I found these two very large celts in the same area(within 10 feet) in the same field 5 years apart. Both won best field finds for the year at the Ohio Archaeological Society. The smaller one is 9 1/2" long. The small one showed only a small portion of the bit in the ground. I thought I had an axe, but when I pulled on it, it just kept coming out. I felt like King Arthur pulling the sword from the stone. The big one was found completely exposed on its back. The mean nasty plow scraped it up pretty good when it flipped out. I saw it about 50 feet away. Nothing beats the feeling of pulling a nice artifact from the ground. South West Ohio within the city limits of Cincinnati.

Jon Dickinson.

Super celts,Ive not hunted Hamilton,County. I hate drivin in Cincy lol
Pointdlr, sorry about the misunderstanding on the repo. Your celts are beautiful. I lived in Greenville for 4 years and didn't know about collecting then. I could kick myself. My wife grew up in Greenville. That's where her family is. When we visit , I bet I hit some local corn fields. Ray

Re: 2 Celts I found
Jon, I never get tired of seeing those two. Give me a shout. I think we are digging a privy this weekend. A friend of mine from the Enquirer is going to film it and do a story as well. Keep in touch.

Christ_in_you,
I came across too strong, and I apologize for that. I should have just left it alone. Apology accepted. Please accept mine. I am sure I can contribute in a positive way in this forum. I really liked your striped point. I wasn't positive from the pics, but it looked early archaic bifurcate/kirk. I am not too good on Ark. pieces....
Ohio- Thanks for turning me on to this site. With my new found interest in bottles and Metal Detecting, I think it will be a regular stomping ground.
Badandy,
I should have saved my best finds for last, but I just wanted to show them. The field is now plowed with this machine that literally grinds everything up into little bits(and the owner took an interest in searching it). My best site that I grew up in the shadow of, is now gone(at least I have the memories).
Trevmma,
I have to admit that I don't travel that direction. I have always had bad luck around the Hamilton area except for a field where I found some early archaics about 10 years ago. I couldn't even say for sure where that site is(we were scouting that day w/o a map). I do know a guy who owns a heating/cooling company that told me the same thing, so it is probably a good place to look. Go find 'em.
OH River Hunter,
The Cincy traffic is a cake walk compared to other big cities, but the places to hunt arrowheads in the city limits are few and far between.
all us ohioans need to get together and do some feild walking, there is no one my way.

There's a big artifact show in Collinsville in March every year if you guys wanna meet there. It wont be a good time to hunt, but some good deals and lots of stories to be had.

Go find some artifacts! Wait............What's this red button do?
