My finds from a few weeks

Got a chance to go back to the drainage ditch that I found that scraper in and a couple of weeks ago I found a nice pinkish colored arrowhead and then today I found a beautiful point that is almost 5 inches long.

I am ignorant when it comes to telling what type and age these are so any help in that area is greatly appreciated.

Here is the large 5" point as I found it today

Here is a shot with my pinkish point I found

Here is a group shot of my nicer finds

Starting from the top, smaller and longer points found in South East Georgia (Rincon area), from the left, the gray point was found in Mid-Michigan (Grand Blanc area), Middle was a scraper, and the far right is a scraper and they were found in the general area in SE Georgia and the top two.

    Mike,

Super finds. Did you find the 5" in the same area as the lower left lance looking point? I ask, b/c the 5" looks to me like a "tang" knife or what some people call an early ovoid. They resemble turkey tails, but are much older(evidence points to a paleo origin, but noone is really sure). The lower left one looks like it could be a Transitional Paleo lance. Does it have smooth grinding on the base or sides?
I will try to picture what is considered the best tang ever found later today after the Bengals game.

Jon, the lower left one was found up North in Michigan. near Flint, Michigan, in Grand Blanc. My father in law and I were spreading the dirt that was dug for an additional basement to his house. When the clay and dirt were removed, you could see a wide streak of gray clay and my FIL said that was were the original course of the creek was and when they built the subdivision, they re-routed the creek so the lots could be square. Anyhow, we would spread the dirt and clay, let it rain, and go and pick up the rocks. This was one of the "rocks" I picked up.

So to answer your question, no, they were not found in the same area but......all the rest were found in the same area here in the Savannah, Georgia area. Matter of fact, my hunting partner found a white point identical point to the pink one. I have been finding pottery pieces too in the same area that are a half inch thick.

I can post better pics for you if you like and also some pics of the pottery pieces.

    Thanks Jon ,
I,m not familiar with the early o void. Turkey or tang came to mind. What time period were they from? The late Sonny Atkins found a large cache of turkey tails. I,ve always wished I could find just one.
