"E" Nocthed Thebes Question

I was sitting in my den watching these big and I mean "HUGE" snowflakes crashing (only true verb to use for their size) into the ground outside. Not to worry the snow in western Oregon seldom sticks at my altitude, which is 175 feet above sea level. None the less there you have it--spring snow "plates".

I decided it would be a good time to review some D.C. Waldorf articles and essays. For those of us that enjoy that "crunch" feel as a flake is removed from a platform as you press it off--you will no doubt be familiar with DC Waldorf.

What caught my eye was some of the "E" notch examples he was explaining a method for manufacturing. I have never found an example that I could say was "E" notched. I got to wondering if any of you field hunters in the eastern part of the country had found any examples of these points. So I thought it might be a good topic to post.

Are there any flint hunters out there that have a picture to post of an "E" notched Thebes, or Lost Lake point that is authentic?

I would really like to see a specimen. Even a heartbreaker would be nice.

This is the only one I have ever found. Though the "E" isn't as pronounced as some examples I've seen it is definitely an E-Notch Point and you can see the protrusions inside both notches.

Dork, I knew you would have an example. That is an awesome piece. How has the hunting been lately? I have not been out for points too much. I just got backing from digging trilobites in New York. We did pretty well. Keep us posted.

I could probably take you to within 5 feet of the exact spot I found it. lol

It came from Lawrence County, Ohio on property that is owned by Dow Chemical. This same field has produced at least 5 other killer Thebes that I personally know of and tons of other killer points. Unfortunately, when they put in the new entrance to the plant they quit plowing this field and it now just sits in grass and probably always will.

Here's a few more from the same field and the one right beside it. The one beside it is stilled farmed, but they just don't turn it as deep as they used to and it doesn't produce anything like it did 10 to 15 years ago.

Chuck, hunting not to good hear except for my excavation site since it's been to wet for anyone to plow any fields. I just heard over the weekend that one of my favorite Ft Ancient site isn't going to be plowed this year. The farmer is just going to disc it and plant it so I doubt much gets turned up, but I'll still hunt the heck out of it. Trilobites huh?? That is one thing I have never found. Very cool.
