    A Mortar and a Heartbreaker

Was out today in a field that I have been finding a lot of flakes and spalling from point knapping--and yet I had to that point not found a projectile point.

First I found the front portion of the knife and then I found the mortar. Take a look.

Re: A Mortar and a Heartbreaker

    TT, thanks for your input.

I am not sure--most of the grinding tools I am familiar with is of desert type. Manos and Metates. Mostly those are made of lava rock and rectangular in shape.

I called this a mortar because I did not know the name for a small bowl sized artifact that I was sure was used to grind something.

I am still trying to determine it's pedigree
