Re: My Father's Site
Very nice points! It's really nice to be able to hunt the same field(s) that you hunted as a kid with your dad or other friends/relatives. Loads of memories make certain fields very special. I am lucky enough to be able to hunt the same fields that I hunted when I was about 10 years old with my uncle. My grandfather's old farm and house is right across the road from the field. It's almost like walking back into time every now and then.
Cool story!
Good luck!

Re: My Father's Site
Very cool unitas. That site looks like it was occupied for a very long time. I see from early Archaic all the way through to historic times. I don't see any Paleo, but that's still close to 10,000 years of occupation on one site.
Congrats on your killer finds and thanks for the great pictures.

Re: My Father's Site
Wonderful site...judging from the amount of musket balls I`m surprised more trade goods are not evident. Looks like all range of calibers are there. If you have time might be interesting to measure diameters would help in identifying weapons. Looks like some balls are pounded rather than cast. Would love to see you get on that site with a metal detector.

Re: My Father's Site
That's a fantastic collection! I can see why the site is so meaningful for you, not to mention all the happy memories.
I love a good musket ball... a huge pile of them is even better. Are all those surface finds?! If so you might be on a fort site or battlefield. Some of those big ones might be from British guns.

Re: My Father's Site
Thanks everyone for your kind words.
The musketballs were all surface finds,I probably should try detecting it but I find that can be hard work,I'd rather work my eyes.---there is quite a bit of modern dump material on the site.-----I hope to find more trade material there in the future, I have learned alot of what to look for from this site---------------and yes Jeff, black flint rocks.
