Nice point and you deserve it from the amount of dirt turned, now get some ginseng seeds and you can make it pay off again!

Re: 8/23/8 finds.
I like that idea of the Ginseng, that side notch isn't Ridge? That 2 piece blade is very cool as well, that mid section is a shame, way to go!!!
It's addicting, but it's pleasing!

Re: 8/23/8 finds.
Pick,
I have not been on this forum for very long , so I may be asking a question that has already been answered , but what can you tell me about your site. How deep do you dig? It looks to be at the surface. How did you find the site? Very cool by the way. Do you sift? I have always wanted to locate a good site to dig and sift , any info would be great.
Thanks!

If your gonna dig then you better be sifting. Otherwise your not gonna find anything unless your VERY lucky.

Re: 8/23/8 finds.
You can find them w/out sifting.probably 95% of the stuff ive found has been w/out a screen, dig slow, i only screen areas w/ high concentration of flint. As far as how deep you dig depends on the area mainly where im digging the hardpan is about a foot deep. The pic up top all the artifacts were found 1"-3" below at about 6 inches was a sandstone layer.Found the site years ago while riding motorcycles, thats how i use to collect them ride around and pick em up still find 1 on the surface now and then.my first collection from this site was stolen from a camper i kept on site.

Re: 8/23/8 finds.
Pick,
In this area there is a very hard packed clay below the top soil. Should there be artifacts in the clay or only in the topsoil? The topsoil only goes down abot 10 inches. I have a place to dig in an area where I have found many points. The ares is huge but the block of woods for digging is only about 7 acres. Thanks again for the help.

Re: 8/23/8 finds.
Hard to say,out here the same about a foot down red clay and other areas sandstone.
And i dont recall finding any in the red clay here. Most here are in the 3"- 6" layer some around large trees seem to be deeper around large roots and some are laying on the surface.

Re: 8/23/8 finds.
Nice finds pickaway. Is the Side Notch Point ground real well on the base? Just curious if you were thinking it was a Big Sandy or not.
Congrats on the finds and thanks for the pics.
