that is the view from just below Josephine tunnel

the gate is constructed of copper tube...locals are rather protective of them...so copper thieves don't stand a chance...
tunnel is large enough to drive a 18 wheeler into...

That's the tunnel under Jerome that heads toward Clarkdale right?

Ok that's the one I'm thinking of, Hopewell.

Hopewell is the united verde copper company tunnel...built by mr clark to take ore to Clarkdale...
Josephine was built by united verde extension...owned by Georges Clemenceau...and interesting method to avoid the neutrality act, WWI.

http://www.mindat.org/loc-40685.html

bottom line:"Total tonnage was 3,878,825 dry tons of ore yielding 793,331,100 pounds of Cu, 6,449,156 oz. Ag, and 152,756 oz. Au. The total output being worth $9,949,918 (period values), of which $7,400,000 was profit!"

I would guess its not on the rez, didn't know the rez was over there. That's a nice profit! Spend a little, get a lot! Like the oil companies.

Don't know what the neutrality act had to do
where mining is concerned? Explain

I'm sorry I'm still lost. I know the US was neutral before they had enough of the Germans but what does that have to do with the tunnels in Jerome? You said interesting method to avoid the neutrality act, WWI. What was their method? Was there more to the act that covered mines?

Don't leave just because of them. They obviously don't know what they're talking about. I enjoying talking with you and learn a lot at the same time.
