Just wondering how much detecting competition the rest of you have. From what I can see (or more accurately from what I DON'T see), I have NONE. I haven't seen anyone besides me swinging a detector since I was a kid back in the 80's.
I see someone every once in a while .....not too often....I have several friends that hunt....our club has slowly died off....everyone is too busy to get together and I have tried to kickstart it back together but no one wants to put out any effort to help so I will restart it again someday.......see ya later
I'm like Fireman 7115, I dont ever see anyone, unless it's Soark and we usually ride to places together and we like it that way too. But we live in the middle of nowhere. Most of the places we CW hunt, the family either owns, or we have leased for hunting or I am a member of the deer camp where ever we happen to be except for the river we hunt in. Turkey season ends here today, yahooooooo, so now I can quit chasing turkeys and start md'ing again. Now if the river will just go down so we can get in it I will be happy. Got a turkey I hunted for 6 days and in the process found 4 or 5 arrowheads so I had a great season...d2
There are two local MDing clubs in my area so there is plenty of competition. Nearly every site I locate I find evidence of uncovered plugs when I get there so someone is really busy ruining it for the rest of us. I never have been able to find the culprit in action but I have had my suspicions. Last year there was about 20 square blocks of old houses torn down in my city and the MDers descended like vultures. Of all the lots in the area I had two guys come down to where I was hunting alone and almost rub elbows with me! I don't mind meeting and talking with others on a site, but trying to crowd me out really pi$$e$ me off. Please, a little common courtesy. Monty
Don't make me loose the hounds! If you dig, Cover up your holes.
I've never had much competition in any of the towns I've detected. I ran into 2 detectorists once and thats the most competition I've had. I try to stick to small towns and sites in the middle of nowhere to make sure I have little or no competition.
