Painter Andrew Wyeth Dies at 91

PHILADELPHIA — Artist Andrew Wyeth, who portrayed the hidden melancholy of the people and landscapes of Pennsylvania's Brandywine Valley and coastal Maine in works such as "Christina's World," died early Friday. He was 91.

She had Polio.

He is often touted as the most over-rated and most under-rated painter of all time.

Very sad to see him go. . . he was an amazing artist.

Wyeth was indeed an extraordinary artist, certain critics' comments to the contrary notwithstanding.

Although saddened by his passing, I am grateful for his long life and considerable gifts which will continue to enrich us all.

One of my favorites as well. I live in the Brandywine valley where Wyeth's family grew up and lived. My father William Aspinall painted with Andrew's father N.C. before he and his grandson were hit & killed by a train. He will be missed by a great many people. If you ever get to Chadds Ford PA do go to the Brandywine River Museum.
