My good friend got these two HUGE oil paintings at a garage sale for 5.00 (for the pair). I can't figure out who's signature this is- I think they might be Mexican/Latino but really have no clue. Can you help me?

Anybody even want to venture a guess as to what the signature is? All I can figure is the end part is "dre" If I could figure out the first part I should be able to find the artist and other works/value etc.

Ocean 7- I looked at some of those sites before, there's just SOOOO many artists that without some idea of the name it would be all but impossible to find out who... what do you think the first letter of the name is?

my grandfather was an artist and you could read his name clear as a bell. What's up with these guys? Oh that's right - they're artists! L
Artists and weather men always get bad raps....LOL Oh yeah, doctors and lawyers too...
Okay, I will search the "C" section of artists and see who has a name that ends in dre! This may be all I needed!!! Let's "C".

ok good luck! Some of these artists are real obscure and very difficult to track. I'm sure you've probably seen Antiques Roadhouse. Every now and then someone brings in a painting and has no idea that the work is buy Piere Obscure' blah blah artist we've never heard of but
the painting is worth a small fortune!

I've been looking through artists names for an hour strait now and I didn't even get through all the Cs...I'm going cross eyed trying to figure this out... I'm starting to think that I may never find out unless I consult with an expert, take it to the antique roadshow, or get really lucky and find somebody on here that can decipher the signature. If I could only figure out the name I could do the research...thanks for trying though!

you're welcome!
I'll ask my sister to look at it - she's an artist. Maybe she can figure it out. If so - I'll let you know. worth a shot even if it is a potshot! L

The signature in the second pic is certainly the same artist but it's even worse in terms of readability...and it's in a dark area that doesn't show up very well...

The paintings came from an old farm house here in Wisconsin- The frames are original and quite large and heavy China doesn't really make sense.... also, what do you mean an Eastern name?
