I also checked my Encyclopedia of Pottery and Porcelain marks which is very complete and didn’t find this mark. It is possibly a contemporary piece that is made in the style of early face jugs or from a small local maker.

Kind of looks to me like a college art student project. Got a local college or art studio nearby the gives lessons? If so check with them.

I have seen them ugly face jugs appraise for lots of money on the roadshow if they were original ones. Perhaps worth looking in to.

Thanks for all the replies....I found out it's a early 40's face jug by Brown Pottery of Arden, NC.
