    Honda 3-Wheeler problem

My 250SX lost it's posi-traction when I was hauling a trailer full of firewood up a hill , so only one rear wheel has power now . Is there a shear pin in there that may have snapped or something worse ?

    Re: Honda 3-Wheeler problem

I found a picture of the final drive on line. it looks like the axle is in 2 pieces with a hub the bolts everything together.
if it's not working on one side you may have broke the axle or the connecting hub

    Re: Honda 3-Wheeler problem

the rear axle is a one piece unit, I would say you have stripped the splines from one side of the axle, or you have a stripped out hub. take the hub off of the side that is no longer pulling(remove the cotter pin and one large nut) the hub will slide out off of the axle. look at the axle, and the inside of the hub. either the axle will be stripped, the hub, or both. very easy to fix. parts can be had a lot cheaper on ebay.

I agree with the post above mine as I stripped the hub pulling a moose on a trailor with mine. It cost me around 40 to 50 $ to replace.

    Re: Honda 3-Wheeler problem

The last two post are correct. I would put money on the hub being bad. I have had many Honda ATV's and ATC's I have seen where the splines have gone bad two, but most of the time its the hub. I'm sure this part is cheap and most of the older stuff they made the hubs to work with most axles.
