 da book worm--researcher
working as a cheif steward (merchant marine) on various ships supplying goods for the us military it was sadly far more common for me to be onboard a ship at thanksgiving & christmas and my birthday (feb) than to be at home with freinds / loved ones -- onboard ship it was me and my cook amd mess hand (3 of us) who made the " holiday feast" for the crew -- ham , turkey . prime rib -- shrimp and devil eggs and lots of other food and desserts

I spent the Christmas of 1986 in Darmstadt Germany. In eleven years active duty it's the only Christmas I spent by myself.

I was in the USAF stateside for four years, we worked on the flight line. We could get either christmas or new years but not both. Married guys wanted christmas, us young single guys wanted new years. I missed all four christmas holidays but it was my own choice. My family would have a regular christmas and a late one for me around the 28th. It really wasn't missing christmas.

The first Christmas away (Fort Campbell,Ky.,1963) was the roughest-though lucky enough not to be in a combat zone.
The rest of them are indistinct.

1970 South Korea[Seoul], met her family and became one. Learned about slot machines and found coins on Military Security route, saw wife of Pres. Park killed. It was very different, and I daily miss all my brothers.
There is nothing as constant as change.
