Nice pics Coins! My girlfriend's dad was on a sub, picking up downed pilots off Iwo, during the war. If you wish to read about the Marines in the pacific, look for a book called Strong Men Armed. Thanks for the pics. TTC

Very cool! I found some old foxholes here in Korea and found a few shell casings and a 1951 wheat penny. I always wonder what those guys went through.

Foxholes? lol. Don't let a Marine drill instructor hear you call them that. "Listen to me, maggot! If you see a fox in that hole, it is a foxhole. If you see a Marine in it, it is a FIGHTING HOLE! Got it? Now, squat thrusts forever.... begin". (Sgt. Crazy Garcia circa 1967) TTC

I think it was a cakewalk compared to Tawara. Read the book.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Tarawa

And according to a Bud something went on over there that's "still classified." Any ideas? Oh, and my Bud. He survived 17 count 'em SEVENTEEN landings including both of the aformentioned.

Anyway, thanks for the pics!

Cakewalk, my BUTT! If ten guys that have been in battle tell you it was a cakewalk, nine are lying, and the tenth has a death wish. TTC
