just a story,,;two guys at white sands using a detector, yes they are in the military!! ooh boy! WHATS THAT HELICOPTER COMING THIS WAY FOR!!! 
Anyway I used to hunt quail a lot there---open to hunting in designated areas that change from day to day sometimes--military members only!!while hunting I always watched where I walked mostley in the washouts, LOL but it is rumored of the buried gold bars scattered around the desert! YOU OR I will never hold on one from there!! not to mention the 1600 bars in the mountain 300-400 feet below the surface...any rumored stories about the ones in the sands..THANKS
