Terry, there's no replies to your thread. You are in a growing minority now my friend. Vietnam veterans may be the fastest growing minority now, second of course to WWII & Korean vets.

It is my understanding that in all, there were 6 million Vietnam vets.

Last time I researched it, there were fewer than 800,000 still alive - and that was a couple of years ago.

I thank you for the response. I go to a PTSD group on Tuesdays. Next to me sits a CAP Marine. There is a CAP Marine doctor in Angels Camp, CA. We are getting SCARCE! There is a pharmacist working in Angels Camp. I swear he was wearing a sign saying VIETNAMESE. At the counter I asked, "Viet nam o Viet bac"? He quickly said Viet bac (North Viet). We stared at each other for a few uncomfortable seconds. Spooky! ╦╦Ç

My DAD is a Vietnam vet. He is still going strong. He was in the marines from 64- 87. He doesn't talk much about it but I think he was over there 3 times between 65-71. Got into the agent orange over there. They retired him 100% disabled in 87. I am so proud of him and all he's done in and out of the military. I wish y'all good health and happy hunting. Thanks for listening.

He probably was in "I Corps".... up north in Quang Tri, Thiua Tien (?), or Quang Nam Provinces. I fought in Hué during Tét (68) and Phu Bai. Two tours. Thank him for his service and sacrifice for me. ╦╦Ç

You did very well, amazing how our old brains still remember the little things.

Toi (I) da hop tieng Viet (studied Vietnamese) Cho (for) muoui bay (17) thang (months).

I was kinda an interpreter field assigned to the 4th Infantry Division based from the 374th RRC (Radio Research Company) in An Khe and many mountain tops throughout the Central Highlands.

I only got one word. TERRIBLE. How about... Toi yeu co ma kong caw thien. (said to a SICOLO) I love you but I have no money. All words are phonetics, of course. Take care. Terry

Well Terry, you certainly haven't lost your brain! Both posts were nearly absolutely phonetically correct.

"Toi yeu co nhung khong co tien"

Mot, hai, ba, bon, nam, sau, bay. tam, chin, muoui

What the hell am I doing still remembering all this, and you too? Rather obviously that was a very serious period of our lives - a lifetime changer. If this period was not serious it would never have stuck to our memories for the last 50 years.

You stay safe my friend!
