When the tides and winds and swells are just right there's some Good Happenings at "Erosion Beach" (my secret spot in Southern California ).
Yesterday a good combination produced some NEW huge cuts as high as 5 feet.
First two finds at about 4" deep were the Mercs, 1942 and 1944S. Next a 1957 Rosie and a toasty mystery Silver, all at about under 6" deep. I'm thinking ..Barber hmm maybe Seated. A 1957 wheat finished off the coins. Then an elusive little religious medal. It fell through my scoop but I pinned it down with the edge of the PI. One of the few solid silver medallions I've found here, most have been silver plated.
I cleaned the mystery Silver for over 4 Hours .What a stink...Finally was able to chip a bit of the crust off and it turns out to be... a very old ...Rosie . Oh well ... it is Silver.
I'm usually hunting/eager for the rings or jewelery but it's always a pleasant and welcome surprise to get Silver.
