From the west coast of the continent....California:

Last weeks high tides brought out some goodies from my Erosion Beach.

Another Franklin Half, 1948 (got a 1958 a week ago) and a couple of 1944 War Nickels...But Friday's hunt got me a real keeper!

Right under the ledge of the sharp cut an iffy signal (with my White's PI). First scoop out and the signal's still there so I checked the 1st scoop's sand...a signal there too. That one turned out to be a copper penny. Back to the original signal. Took me two more scoops and a gorgeous circle of Gold in the scoop. I yell out: :"That's what I'm looking for!"

It's 14K with three diamonds (I'm assuming real). I'm also guessing this is an old ring from no more recent than the 50's or 60's. Quite a bit of erosion on the surfaces ...the design groove remains shinier.

You say "just a gold ring with diamonds?" Wow, I wish I could say the same... :D

Nice ring, I bet it had been under the sand for a long time too.

Dang, I've got to get out and hunt more.....I just hope for erosion soon.

Thats a sweet ring find with the 3 diamonds. :icon_thumright:
Kinda makes you wonder what the story is
of how the ring got there in the first place.
Congrats on a nice looking ring. Gold Nuggets :hello:

Thank you for all the comments they are much appreciated.

I too wonder and try to speculate on the hows and whys of lost items I find.

On this particular beach beach goers are few and it's not ever crowded. There are berms built up to protect the beach and I know at least some of the sand comes from just offshore adjacent to very popular nearby beaches (this was written on a replenishment notice posted at "my" beach).

I believe most of my better finds come from the erosion of the berms during high tides. There are cuts that are up to 5 feet tall with a lot of smaller cuts too. I've found buffalo nickels on the surface just under the cuts. Most finds are less than 4" deep and probably at least 50 years old.

I've found as old as a 1904 Indian head penny and many old Mercs and Silver quarters (No SLQs , yet) and 4 Silver halves (1 Kennedy, 2 Franklin, 1 Standing Liberty). Also 5 Gold rings and about 2 dozen Silver rings. Every time out there gets me at least a few Wheats (and virtually no competition).

And last but not least...I get to experience some amazingly great Sunsets! Gotta love this hobby!
