New Smyrna has a mix of alot of things (Spanish, English, and Dutch). There's alot of speculation as to if there are wrecks or not on the beaches there. I personally have seen pillar dollars come from a certain spot on north beach and I don't know if they were a drop or an actual wreck site. The biggest problem with hunting the New Smyrna area for anything old is the fact the beaches are in pretty good shape and I would say anything old would be under six to twelve feet of sand and they don't seem to erode like the treasure coast beaches. I'm sure if the conditions proved right it might be a great place to hunt, but if the conditions were that good in New Smyrna I rather go to the treasure coast where the odds are much better.
