I'm on an island, so a beach is never that far away. But not all the beaches attract people. Some of them can really only be called shorelines. On the south shore is such a place, a few houses around, but not a place for beach goers, maybe joggers :walk: and fisherman :fish:, a few locals, kids drinking :occasion14:, etc.
Back in years gone by it was probably pretty active since there are remains of a few piers sticking out of the water. So one day during lunch I decided to give it a shot. And after a few more days during lunch across about 75 yards of narrow shoreline, these are my finds.
A 1941 quarter, 1920 and "23 Buffalo nickels, 1940 and '50d dimes, 1916 and '28s Mercury dimes and three Barber dimes, 1909, 11d and '13 along with 10 Wheaties and some old clad, nothing newer than 1972 and two religious medals, one so worn it was hard to tell what it was. All the coins are in pretty bad shape, black, corroded, worn, except the 1913 and '28 dimes, they are just black.
Some were only an inch below the surface, some required digging to about 6" or so.

Very cool. Keep on looking, I'm sure there is a lot more there to find.

Got back there for about half an hour this afternoon. Not very productive today, not much time, but did manage a 1920 and a 1926 wheatie and a 1927 Merc dime. No photos yet but the conditions were no better than the other coins I posted. At least I wasn't skunked.
