I have heard good things about Garrett Sea Hunter Mark II. For the money, it's a good value. They say that you will dig all metal, including iron, and lots of junk. I am getting a Sea Hunter soon, and will use it only for underwater detecting at the beach, in rivers, and lakes. Sea Hunter is a PI type model and those go very deep for the targets. Many people say that it finds the deep gold and other goodies that some other detectors may miss.

I find the Sea Hunter has an average price of $637.00 new. From Kellyco as well as Ebay and other places.

Good luck and let us know what you decide.

X, you have been killing them lately on the beach. If you are using your Cobra, that is some productive junk. I use a Bounty Hunter and am very new to MDing, but I found some gold with it. I might be interested in your Cobra if you are going to upgrade.

Hi X, today I tried out a friend's excal & I'm totally sold on it. He threw down a gold ring, silver ring, some coins & I threw down a coat hanger type metal piece, in the dirt. The excal would not sound on the metal junk. And it gave distinctive different sounds on the gold, silver, and coins.

I am going to buy a Excal. It works great underwater as well as on land. My friend is very knowledgable & experienced metal detector hobbyist.

I have a Garrett Sea Hunter and it is solid, professionally made dive gear. Its only drawback is that is a PI machine and responds to all metals. If anything, it has a bit or "reverse discrimination" and prefers iron to brass. Just the thing if you are looking for relics.

What do you think a excel 800 or a excel 1000
the excel 1000 has a 10 inch coil
or the excel 800 with the 8 inch coil?
Is the smaller coil better?
for under water?
