That is why they are called Killer Whales, don't understand why people get in the water with them. The article states that two witnesses said the Whale leaped and grabbed the woman and dragged her in the water, they will probably put that Whale down, it has been involved in other fatalities....So sad this Whale wasn't destroyed earlier, she may still be alive.

This same whale killed a trainer in nearby Victoria BC.

Maybe it's time just to release them and put an end to whale shows.

What do folks expect? That whale was not a Walt Disney animated toy.
It reminds me of the grizzly that ate the nature boy and his girlfriend.
Wild animals were not put on earth to be our playthings.

Stupid is as stupid does.

dogs and cats are siutible for pets for humans -- clearly this "killer" whale is not a "happy camper" type animal as a "trained "preforming animal" -- maybe he just wants to be back in the wild instead of being "a penned up circus freak side show"-- killer whales are very intellegent critters maybe hes not happy being "penned up" and this is the only way he can "show it".

The whale will be put down. Creepy neighborhood teenagers will be allowed to throw in plugged in toasters into Tilikum's tank until he dies!!! Also a life long member's pass to SeaWorld will be awarded to the person who can guess how many toasters it will take to kill that evil whale.

the Whale isnt necessarily evil...sure its killed people, but why dont you try to understand why it did it. It shouldnt be put down, it should just be released.

There is a risk of him mutating into a super Electro-whale, which we puny humans would be powerless to stop.
Didn't you see Godzilla ?

It's a beautiful, intelligent animal and should never be forced to perform.

Sad story from both sides.

It is a tragedy from every way you look at it. the trainer & her loved ones, the audience, & the whale. he needs to go back in to the wild. I hope this is a wake up call for these places. but I doubt it will be. it makes to much $

I agree to let the whale go free in the wild & fend for himself. It's sad that they make so much money off of these shows. They say they want to "educate" the public about these wonderful animals. And to do this, they keep them penned up and train them to do stupid tricks. No wonder why some of the whales attack the trainers?? People can learn about these animals without the harm to the animals & trainers, etc..

Some species they save, breed, and bring back from the brink of extinction. But some animals are better off in the wild.

Prayers do go out to the trainer's family & friends. *sad*.

Why would you destroy the whale instead of realeasing it?

It is a wild animal just like the buffalo in Yellowstone that the stupid tourist try to pet. A 12,000 pound whale is naturally dangerous.......Sea World authorities have already said the whale will NOT be destroyed which is good. The trainer who died knew the dangers of working with them, and yet loved the whales and working with them, she would be the first to say do not destroy the whale....

Officals said today the whale grabbed the trainers ponytail when it brushed the whales face and pulled her under.

That's so sad. Her ponytail caused it? The whale must of thought it was a fish or something?? From now on, I bet all trainers are going short hair.

Bummer, so sad. We can bet she loved the whales, and understood the dangers and their nature. It is an animal after all. It cannot reason and understand things like humans can. No matter how hard and how much they get trained.
