Let the "lead" lead you to gold.

I was so busy this week that I did'nt get to hunt until this morning. At 0600 I got to my spot only to see someone detecting on the dry sand and two others just entering the water, one of them with scuba gear. I thought well so much for that and almost left to go somewhere else. As I watched the water hunters, I noticed that they were moving in a straight line and rather quickly, so I jumped in about 20 yards behind them figuring maybe at that pace they would miss a few things. Thankfully, they did. Maybe it was the abundant amounts of lead that discouraged them. As I've learned, if you are finding lead and other heavy targets, there's a good chance you'll also find gold. ;D

Oh man, that's a classic 'lead and gold' hunt right there! You can practice alchemy - turning lead into gold.

Hey Crabby, that was one awesome hunt! The last time I got out I also found a ton of lead sinkers, and two gold class rings!

And way to go not letting those other hunters deter you.

Congrats on the gold!!!

Lead is always a good sign. I found my best ring mixed in with lead. By the time I left I was having trouble keeping my pants up due to all of the lead in my pockets. Not to mention lead weights are not cheap. Here they are like a buck a piece. Nice work

Yep, just goes to show, just because there are other hunters there, it doesn't mean they're going to find everything.

Congrats on a nice haul. :icon_thumleft:

nice ring finds. I don't fish so whenever I find weights I give them to the next fisherman I run into. But I've yet to find a ring near them....

Willie d is right and so are you. I get discouraged for a few minutes when I see a lot of other hunters where I want to be but if you watch them ..... 9 times out of 10 ..... it pays to hunt after them. You certainly found that out! WTG

Hey Sand Crab, do you have a video camera? You should show us your area and techniques..never hurts to have another videographer.

Have been thinking about it. I was looking at the dive masks with the camera built in. It would be a hassle to have to carry another piece of equipment.
