Fort Lauderdale beach 1965 after spring break. At that time they didn't just pack the hotels, but stayed on the sand.

Cocoa Beach is by far the worst I have encountered in Florida. Areas around the Pier as well as Coconuts Bar are really bad. I'd say five times more trash in these areas, compared to Daytona Beaches.

Some of the informal swimming holes

Some of these have been super sites to hunt while others would make a scarp yard drool . . .

Last summer my dive partner and I hit a beach in NC that literally was carpeted with beer cans and other trash . . . . . we pulled out 4 five-gallon bags of trash and recovered some stuff but it was not worth the effort. I have seen other sites like this and it amazes me how much trash can wind up in scuh a small area.

Crandon Park in Miami after memorial day... Looked like Woodstock had just closed down. The manager said he "couldnt charge you to go into that mess, I am utterly embarrassed how bad this park looks"... The people should be ashamed of themselves (but of course they arent) for trashing a place like that. Simply stunning that the pigs can toss garbage around like that when there are trash receptacles everywhere...
"You owe me" is the credo in this country anymore..

Can't count how many times in my life I partied (and fished) at Frenchmans Bar.... Oh good times they were... But I cant remember a whole lot of littering back then.. In fact, we would have "garbage patrol" after every party there, to "make sure they dont shut down the beach"... Always left it as clean as we found it, and back then, anyone caught tossing stuff down was severely browbeaten and called out on their behavior.. Times have really changed..

Luckily, I have never experienced a trash beach, other than the occasional barley pop can, and the condom next to them... :laughing7:
