We had pretty strong storms last week, and the beaches in Nokomis, Venice, & Englewood, have about six inches of sand over the top of seaweed and ocean debris.

Also quite a bit of dead seaweed up on the beach.

The multiple storms blew in from the west, pushing flotsam on the beach, then sand on top of that. End result - heavily sanded in conditions.

Since it rained just about every day last week, not many people on the beaches. And local schools started this past monday, so not many school kids on the beach.

Its been slim pickings for about 10 days now.

But the high sitting over the gulf right now, means low humidity and nice weather for the upcoming holiday weekend.
