Deep Depression...
Charged up the Excal's battery pods to do a shakedown before the start of the season, good thing I did, turns out there's a intermittant open circuit on the battery plug lead... *******!!!.
Dismantle plug revealing salt water corosion to cable on back of soldered pins...
How
... closer inspection reveals cracked cable gland (threaded part) and wire partly corroded all the way back to main body @#$%?!!!.
Off to the dealer to ship detector interstate back to minelab for repairs, advised turnaround to be approx a week to ten days... no way!!!... yep two weeks at the most.... I guess we'll wait and see!

Re: Deep Depression...
Well, I can complain about the service but I can't complain about the detector. After 5 weeks in for a replacement battery lead and connector things are back to normal with the Excal. Some items found over the last few water hunts.

Re: Deep Depression...
I have seen this before on another Excalibur. They say you should rinse the whole machine off each use. I also read to rinse this area while being disconnected from the battery. I wasn't too sure about doing that. I might start now.I also found not cleaning the battery leads regularly leads to intermittent threshold. Hope your back up and hunting fast.

Re: Deep Depression...
Sorry to hear about the problem. Hopefully Minelab will respond faster for you in Australia than they do here in America.
