Surf City, NC beach laws

I am going on vacation in July to Surf City, North Carolina and was wondering if anyone knew of any laws that prohibit metal detecting on the beach.I dont want to go out and purchase a metal detector if i cant use it while on vacation.Thanks

no restrictions anywhere on the island. have a go at it and good luck. some of my friends have hunted it the last couple weeks and slim pickings but its early yet, weather has been bad and not a lot of action from tourists yet but this weekend it will really get busy for the rest of the summer. by the time you get here there should be lots of bling bling to be found.
