Something gold & something old

Hit two beaches Christmas Eve, second beach was around low tide, perfect timing. Ocean has been rough and there was some good erosion going on. Haven't hunted much until now (I like the winter hunting better). Second beach= lots of targets, tons of clad, lots of lead. Found this smallish gold ring w/ blue stones. (found two other junk rings) Got another strong signal, up comes this big chunk of something, thought at first just a piece of corroded junk....cleaned it off and "Wow", a square spike in wood, could be very old.....must be from a shipwreck as we have a few of those off the Virginia Coast....

Looking to go back Sunday and see what else comes up, should be getting a Noreaster this evening, maybe some more erosion.

Merry Christmas to all,
Good luck hunting!
Rich

Nice to see gold..........but that spike in the wood is almost a piece of art.........get it preserved! I really like it.
