Looks real good ! I would say it is as good as one you would buy.
I made one out of a feed scoop , drilled half inch holes in it so it would
clear out.
Good luck on yours and I hope you find a lot of items .

My first "scoops" were a french fry basket with just the right mesh size...then some decorative mesh screens from the goodwill store (for 50c a piece). They worked pretty darn good.

I like your scoop for the flat bottom. You might make larger holes however depending on what you are looking for.

What size are the holes, they look very small....I would suggest you put holes on the other sides as well, you want the sand to drain as quickly as possible... It should work in the dry sand, but want work in the wetsand..... I had a plastic scoop I used in the dry sand when I first started hunting, but it got old real quick constantly leaning over to scoop the target, and it wasn't really that great in the dry sand as some beaches sand is packed tighter than other beaches.....

Remember next to the detector, the most important piece of equipment you will use in beach hunting is the scoop....YOU short change yourself on your scoop you are hurting yourself....If your beach has much trash get use to knee and backpain from all the leaning over to scoop and scoop.... :laughing7:
