I heard someone found a couple 2 REALE'S at Corrigan. A friend saw at least a 10 caret Emerald (1715) :o loose rough cut stone rolling on the wet sand but a wave beat her to it. >:(

Back about 85 when I use to hit those spots, you would never see another detector person out there. Even after a storm there maybe just one other person.

Wow!

I agree Tom, it was a wasted trip for me. I was so determined, I waited til midnight to hit the low tide again. I saw a couple out after dark about 9 PM near the Disney Resort. Was that you?

Man those mosquitos can get bad after dark north of the museum lol.

Rio Mar was a waste. Tracking station the same. Corrigans looked better.

Stopped to watch the surfers at Wabasso. The pictures I took are about high tide 5-6 PM Friday.
Met a lot of nice people that came out to see the surf.

It looks like a decent cut at Wabasso but its not. Its all renourishment sand put down after hurricanes Francis and Jeanne stripped the beaches.

They say the renourishment is a waste of taxpayer money because it will all wash away. Well guess what? Its not washing away. It been there almost 10 years I think and Im afraid it will last 10 more. We may never see the beach as it was in our lifetime again. Or at least not in mine lol.

Yea. The back to back hurricanes Francis and Jeanne attracted all the attention to the Treasure Coast. Add the internet age of information and the rise in popularity of metal detecting. Its all kinda sad.

All we can do is wait for any opportunty and take whatever little is available. Maybe try and look outside the box. Corrigans must be the cleanest beach in the world lol. I found one bottlecap and a ball of foil. Not even a fish hook.

The posts you see sticking out of the ground are turtle nests. Sand is building up around most of them. Some of the nests markers were completely buried. I hope the little turtles can dig their way out.

The renourishment sand just moves around in and out. We just cant seem to get rid of it. There is not even any shells in it.

thanx for the pix. Not much sand gone/eroded at that part of the east coast, apparently. I see lots of beginners in the pix (no headphones, cheapo machines, etc.... :laughing7: )

Yes I also saw a lot of beginners. People read it about it and they want to try it themselves. Often they dont take the time to learn. I watched a guy with his coil over a foot off the sand.

Dale: I agree with your thoughts about beach renourishment.

We did not get there until Friday, late morning. The best cuts I saw were at Ambersands and the Cabin wreck area.

I saw the same guy with his coil a foot off the sand. I think he was afraid to scratch it up!
