Beginner's Luck!

I hit the beach for the 4th time since getting my Garrett GTI 2500, hunted the waterline (after many many adjustments) and got a good hit. I kept working the spot with my hand, trying to find whatever has in there (don't have a sand scoop yet) and the waves were coming over and back, washing all of the sand back into the hole. I had a headlight on and as a wave swept back out I saw the glimmer of a gold ring!! I reached down and grabbed it before the next wave came in.

It is a small gold ring with an emerald in the center and a small round diamond on each side. I feel blessed because this is after 5 or 6 hours of hunting TOTAL since I began detecting and I know many of you guys have worked the ground for a while before even getting anything worth something.

I am really hooked now!! Can't wait to get back out there!

Thats an awesome find. I'm a beginner myself with about 12 hours on my AT Pro and I've only found about $1 of clad. And yes, I'm also hooked.

Re: Beginner's Luck!

Thanks everyone! I want to go look at some scoops but I can't find a store with scoops/metal detecting supplies anywhere! I want to look at a few before I purchase one, or I might build one myself. Does anyone know of somewhere to look at some scoops near West Palm Beach?

Reilys Treasure Gold.....Pompano Beach......the 6 inch Pro aluminum long handle scoop is very popular.

to get more you should get into water... dry beach and water line kinda suck.

Thanks, I will check them out. As for getting into the water I am having trouble getting the GTI 2500 ground balanced. It took me two days of tinkering to get it to work in wet sand but when I get into more than an inch of water I just get all kinds of crazy beeping. I found the manual ground balance menu and went from the lowest setting to the highest and back a few times with no progress. Does anybody hunt the water with a Garrett GTI 2500? I know there are better machines for water but it is what I have for now. Thanks!
