A few silvers to start off the New Year
Hi
42*, sunny with mild wind at the beach today...just great for detecting!
Nice low tide let me get out further past the old pier than usual .
Wasn't finding much around the pier, so I did the next best thing..I went directly under the pier.
Found the silver ring under the pier in very rocky area that is usually filled with sand.
This ring I believe is very old...it did not have the usual gray encrusted tarnish on it, but rather it had a brownish covering on it...as if it was rusted..there is a marking inside the band, but difficult to read, so I tested it with silver test kit ...positive for silver.
The other ring is ? titanium ? SS ....I'm not sure of those metals.
The silverplated spoon ( Embassy Co . "bouquet " pattern) was manufactured in 1939; it's in better condition than most of the silver plated spoons that I have found .
Here's pics
As always, thanks for taking the time to look at my finds

Aaron, don't feel too bad...I didn't bother to post the $0.12 cents that I found yesterday.

Thank you, Jonnie
I scrubbed the spoon with baking soda mixed with a little Tarn-X.
This spoon was easier to clean than others that I have attempted to salvage.

nice job cleaning your finds. If you get a real low tide and the rocks are showing , turn them over and look under them . I will bet you will find allot more keepers. HH

Re: A few silvers to start off the New Year
Thank you, everyone for your kind words; encouragement to continue in this interesting, fun in the sun ( and sometimes snow /ice) hobby
Warmed up to 40* now...time to get some fresh air and exercise at my favorite beach.

Re: A few silvers to start off the New Year
Do you hunt in the water or beach? How deep in water? What do you do with titanium rings?

Lorrain,
You are brave to MD in that cold, I would be frozen. It got down to 56 here and I am freezing. It must be because I have lived here so long and used to the warm all year weather. Anyways, grats on all the finds. Keep it up.

Mostly I hunt in wet sand on the slope and "muddy flats" at low tide all year 'round; in the heat of summertime , sometimes I go into the water up to the hip mounted GT unit ; my last choice of hunting is dry sand if I'm there at high tide .
Titanium rings ..I keep in a box..sometimes I sell them ; otherwise, I don't know what to do with them.
