Got out today since i have to send the Xcal in tomorrow for service. Its going to be gone about a month im told with shipping time. The water was nice and warm but really moving south with the wind. I had been in about an hour and a young lady came over and asked if i could find something as little as a toe ring. Turns out i apparently couldnt lol. Never found the toe ring, but she put me in a good spot and i dug a lot of change and this 63 gram 26 inch .925 Italy chain. If i hadnt been listening extra careful i think i would have missed it. It was deep and gave a very weak crackle sound. It was one of those targets you think.... was that minerals? But i did get a slight repeat so i dug it..... it took a couple of tries to get it.

Cool score Dew! I'm learning the same thing with my Excal...chains tend to come off as faint chatter, but repeat chatter without disrupting the threshold. I'm sure I've missed more then I realize.

Nice chain Dew. Met your buddy, Jerry, at the beach today. Slim pickings for all. I got a lot of pieces of old brass shells. Will not be detecting next week . You might run into Ken at the beach.

Les.... ive got to send this darn Xcal in for some repair. Only back up is my SE .... so i guess unless i buy another ill be sand digging. I hear you about that darn brass.... i hate it. I know what it is even before i dig.... but i still have to dig it. Hey... but on the bright side ... the more i dig the less you guys have to dig :). Jonnie.... with the kids getting out of school its can be a bit of a zoo. Ive not noticed nearly as much traffic relief as i did last year in the stores or on the roads. Maybe this is going to be a good year. Question Les..... knowing i have an Xcal what back up would you buy.... another Xcal, CZ, or a PI? Im thinking CZ or PI just so i have something a little different.

Bill..... No one can say its not been top notch for him thats for sure. Id like to find one thats a little more sensitive to gold chains. Not knowing much about them ill have to do some research. Ill also have to decide... again.... if its a machine thats rarely going to be used.

Some of the really thin lower k gold rings I've found have been just a tiny, twangy sounding "blip". I'm certain I would have never noticed them with the threshold turned up too high.
