What a trip! Purely enjoyable! Didn't really find jack, but I'd take a day on the beach any day without finding a target! 8) I enjoy being in the water more than anything and 95% me detectin was in the water. Didn't recover as much in the water than me would have in the sand but that's just me preference, the water! 8)

My wife swears she laid me speedo on top of the beach towels prior to packing. Upon arrival in Naples, no speedo to be found. When we arrived back home on the 29th, no speedo to be found. I believe the TSA guys while opening me bag and examining me scoop etc. somehow the speedo got out of the bag and didn't get back in! Needless to say, speedo's aren't so popular in swim shops! ::) So I had to settle with wearin me runnin shorts each day on the beach! :o

Wednesday, Oct 25, we slept in late enough to miss breakfast that morning! I detected Naples pier vicinity for 2 hours till noon. From noon to 3, we got out of the sun and drove around, driving to Marco Island. Marco Island seemed like a rather exclusive type community. I detected Marco Island Beach and we took in the sunset.

Thursday, Oct 26, me birthday! 8) We drove to Fort Lauderdale. I found a beautiful women's watch. It has small diamonds around the face bezel and it was still tickin! :o At noon we went to Sawgrass Mills Mall and shopped till I felt like droppin! :'( That afternoon me detected South Miami Beach, Art Deco District, around 10th. street. Lots of babes out there! 8) Didn't have trouble keepin me head up! What a way to celebrate a birthday!

Friday, Oct 27. Went back to Naples Pier and detected for a couple hours then we drove up the coast to Fort Myers Beach. In a store next to the beach I did find a Speedo on the sale rack, however it was only a 32 :o We watched the sunset on Fort Myers Beach.

Saturday, Oct 28. We packed up and left Naples driving up 75 to Tampa. It was rainy :'( Heavy rain :'( We drove the blvd. from St. Pete's Beach to Clearwater. Winds were gusty to 30 +. It was down right chilly. People on the beach were fully clothed, some in sleeping bags :'( Too damn cold, we skipped the sunset and went to the Hard Rock Casino, Tampa before retiring to Plant City.

Sunday, Oct 29. Me got up earlier that morn than any other and was on St. Pete's Beach detected at 8 am. While on the beach I met a guy detectin with an excalibur 1000. He had found more coins in 2 hours than I had found in 4 days! :o He told me conditions change so much in the water and on the beach from day to day. :o

Checked the car in at 2 pm and and back in misery (i mean missouri) at 7 pm.

I had communicated with several about possible meet-up to detect but schedules, time resistants, etc, etc, got in the way :'( Let's do it the next time! 8)

Davy, sorry I was unable to meet you, thought I might be able to, but ended up doing some things with the wife. Maybe next time.

I have access to a timeshare in Daytona Beach if your interested in renting a week I can get a fairly good deal. About a 1000 feet of beach front just north of the pier about 2 miles for about $275 to $500 for a week depending on size and time of year.

Hey Davy: Looks like you had a real good time there! Made a few decent Finds! That Watch looks pretty good! Does your Wife hunt too?
If not, teach her to dig instead! ;)

The trip sounds interesting and at least you got to spend some time in the water and not shopping all day with the wife. Your right about any day on the beach being wonderful. Hearing the surf is better than the gun shots in Detroit.

Belated: "Welcome to Florida" to you and your mate.

You certainly covered alot of territory that week. Saturday really was pretty intense when that cold front came through. i headed out to Cocoa Beach where everyone was surfing but still didnt find much. That watch it really nice. Fort Lauderdale is one my list too. (Whats it like, If you get a chance).

Thanks for all the member replies!

I am somewhat embrassed by the small amount of finds when ya figure I detected about 5 hours a day for 5 days! But i'm not one to fabricate and post finds that weren't really found (if you know what I mean!) :o

Treasure_hunter, the offer of the time share sounds interesting, however, with my work I'm able to accumulate enough points to stay free at Holiday Inns. And one can't beat stayin for free! ;D

buscadero, me wife doesn't hunt. She does an excellent job of sittin under the umbrellas, securing the stuff, and occasionally takin me pic in the water! :o

Sherman, I'd like to get back January 11. That's me wife's b.d. Will have to see how me tradin in the market does! ;D

Sandman, I only use my excalibur once or twice a year, not enough to be versed or accomplished with it's use. I tried using the sensitivity in the 10 o'clock position but seemed to get alot of inconsistencies. Ended up puttin it in the auto. I did set the discrimination to 3. I'm thinkin about selling me 800 on consignment through Kellyco and buying a 1000.

diggummup, that speedo was expensive! ;D

gold-digger, I really enjoyed detected Fort Lauderdale. As one heads east on Sunrise Blvd, you come to a T, with a Holiday Inn on the right and the ocean straight ahead. There is meter parking either direction (north or south), and there are spray heads for rinsing. About 500 yards south of the Holiday Inn is a HOOTERS! :P Here's a pic of me in the surf at Fort Lauderdale. It seems everytime I'm there there is a ship on the horizon.

herb pi, if one is a swimmer, a speedo is always in style! 8)

ringding, you're absolutely right! ;D The speedo got out of the bag when the TSA guys were inspectin! :o I watchin em pull me scoop out, checkin it out and they even had another guy come up and sniff it (the scoop that is) ;D
