I got looking today at the short shaft that comes with Xcal for diving. I put it in the original shaft which has 4 holes for the spring catch. Noticed it wouldnt go in any farther than the 3rd hole. For those of you who dive with the Xcal..... which hole would you put the lower shaft into? If you put it in the 3rd hole there is just 5 inches from the metal shaft to the coil. Id think there is a point where the metal shaft interferes with the coil. I realize those extra holes are designed for the larger lower shaft. To go along with this...... would it be possible to use this small lower rod in a long shaft design..... say using carbon fiber? I suppose you could also use it in aluminum IF you knew which hole to properly use. Ive not seen anyone discuss the use of this small lower shaft.

This may go to substantiate there arent many using this expensive detector to dive with. For those who do.... which notch do you have the short rod set in?
