Went detecting about 4 hours before low tide and scored these two 14k rings both loaded with diamonds. Not sure if the diamonds are real or not. One ring has over 40 diamonds in it.

Has anybody purchased a diamond tester for personal use? Is it worth it, or better to take the diamond's into a jewelry store and have them tell me if it is real or not? If you do test yourself, which tester do you use/ prefer?

CONGRATS on some gorgeous finds...

You can pick a diamond tester fairly cheap on Amazon or eBay..

Need help identifying a makers mark. The smaller ring above is stamped 14K and also stamped CID. Any idea what CID is?

I'm hoping I'm wrong but the the only thing I can think CID might stand for is "cheap inexpensive diamonds" but hey thats still more diamonds than I've found in my lifetime. Congrats! Those rings are beautiful!

LOL, made me laugh (Cheap inexpensive diamonds) and you could very well be right, hehehehhe..... I find rings with diamonds in them all the time, but not the real deal!!! I took the time with a magnifying glass this evening and there are a total of 46 small diamonds in the first ring...I have no idea what the 4 stones in the center are!

Does anybody take there ring finds in to get them appraised? Is there a fee to have it appraised? Which place would one take the rings to? I was trying to identify the rings by doing a google (my best friend) search with no results. Any information would be helpful... I can't even really tell what the stones are except for the diamonds....

Congrats on both rings, they are very nice. Any local jeweler should be able to look at them and/or test them and let you know if you have diamonds. The ones around here do not charge for this quick apraisal. Congrats again.

Our guess is real, just act casual and go in to a jewlery shop and Ask them to test them!!! Dont take to many to them!!! Then they start asking question and Want you to pay a few bucks to have them tested!!! also try Pawn shops they will Usually test them for Free If your Thinking about Pawning them Or Selling!!!! Hint Hint HH Chug
