Good Evening,

I went to St. Agustine for the weekend to hunt with a good friend of mine. We hunted on Vilano Beach, across from the fort,[in the historic district. I doubt I found anything significant; however, I have posted close ups of two not magnetic finds that I found interesting. If anybody could provide insight into what they are it would be most appreciated.

Could be the brass thing be a musket escutcheon plate? Can't tell from the photo.

Yes, could easily be an antique spoon lure. Depends if it's stamped or cast.

Thanks for the replies. I am always amazed out how fast members of this site ID things. I'm not a fisherman so I never would have even thought about that.

Ive hunted that beach a few years ago.... we stayed at an RV park there. Nice beach, did you hunt by the old dance hall, which is a little N. of the main beach? Ive picked up some IHs that i thought was just balls of sand. Hunted once for a week constant there and ended up with 14+ rings in the wet/dry sand. I like that little town so much history.

I hope you had the chance to hunt the south side of the rock jetty especially at low tide. As of this summer, the rocks were covered in sand as we used to drive over them. This past fall (Sandy, series of Nor'easters) the rocks have eroded about 6+ feet deep and 20 feet inland extending about 50 yards towards the inlet.

Dewcon and DiverDown: I hunted around and south of the rock jetty. Both of the pics I found were South of the Jetty. I turned around at the end of the peninsula when I had found my 40th nail in a row. My sand shark is a disadvantage at that point. I was teaching my friend how to hunt so I was not too serious about it. I was really there to visit him so I'm not sure where the tides where when i hunted, but the jock jetty was about four feet above the sand.

old copper bodied nickle plated (silver looking when they were new )-- johnson 'silver minnow" casting spoon fishing lure and a old 4 hole type button (look on the rear ) sometimes wording of who made them are stamped on the rear

Update: So I found the word "minnow" stamped on the underside of the lure. It looks like there are letters in front of it but too hard to make out. Should I try cleaning it or just leave it the way it is? It has a cool look to it now so I would hate to ruin that.

The button tested positive for silver.
