Need help to identify this find

Found this brass item on the beach in a cut that was about 6 ft (in the dry sand). Hoping someone can help identify what it is.

A stick with a box at one end and a round thing on the other.

No idea but I'm sure it's part of a ship or something attached to a ship - nice hunk of brass though!

I believe what you found is a skeg from a Chris Craft. I found a brass Chris Craft rudder once and they can't be fixed once they are sheared off.
