Hey bluediamonds! Very nice haul for the year, I am a little over 100 miles away from Galveston, more like 150 because I'm in College Station, but I will actually be going down to Clear Lake this weekend to visit my girlfriend's family for the first time and she wants to go out to the beaches and search the sand on Galveston with my G2 and ace250.

Nice gold. Freshwater hunting can be better than the ocean cause the stuff drops and stays put. In the ocean the currents and moving sand can bury stuff and move it around.

Like detectahead said be careful on Padre I think there are some protected areas.

Inland lakes are nice and calm, but i live near lake michigan and detecting in the water there is sometimes a challenge. The crews of some of the ore carriers even say its worse than the ocean. The water is always cold even in the middle of summer. The current is very strong, the sandbars move by the hour, and if they break apart it creates rip tides that can take you out into deep water. They are great hunting though ,Just some advice in case anyone wants to hunt the great lakes. Be careful and thanks!
