It has been slim pickings lately but with the number of folks hunting the water it's no wonder. Although all the guys I've spoken to recently claim that this has been the worst year they have had. I feel kind of bad for them since they come here each year specifically to MD. The rough water and sanded in conditions have not been kind and the number of visitors seems to have dropped off regardless of the claims made by the tourism authority.

Submitted for your viewing is this past weeks finds. A handful of coins, some costume jewlery pieces, a ring marked 950 and this morning's find an 8 gram 14K white gold band :hello2::hello2:

I have to research the 950 marking. It looks silver and smells like silver but it doesn't have much weight to it. I know some countries mark their silver differently. We'll see.

Thanks for looking and good luck out there.

950 could be platinum. Nice finds no matter what.

Modern platinum jewelry is usually stamped with a simple purity mark such as 950 or PT950. I believe it means 95% pure platinum. You can refer to the Precious Metals Buyer's Guide for more information. However, Platinum is dense being heavier than gold, it feels more like lead?

Thanks for the responses.

I am aguzillion percent sure it is not platinum. I have been fortunate to have found several platinum rings and they have weight to them. A plat ring the size of the 950 marked ring that I found would weigh 12 or more grams. This thing weighs 5 grams.
