heads up peeps, just sent some plat. to ARA...they said they need a EIN#....anyone know of a place that still deals with the public and what % do they give for silver, plat and gold...thx...hh

I'm not sure if this is for new customers only. I believe you can also give them your Social Security number as an I.D. if you are so inclined.

I'm planning to send in my 4th set of gold to them at about $2000 value. They do not require the EIN# from me nor a SS#.

I would call them and discuss this with them.

Ive been dealing with , them for a few years now, so im not new and to lightly send your ss# around is foolhearty...identity theft should be a big concern for everyone...thx...hh

I have also sent a little gold to Midwest Refineries and have had no problems with them.I sold a few times to ARA,but the last time,my bank,Wells Fargo,would not accept ARA's check.That's why I deal with Midwest refineries now.

May as well jump on board now while you still can and provide them the info they require, if not, could be you're going to end up getting shut out and having to deal with the local 50 to 60% "We buy scrap gold" shops, and most of them are now starting to require your personal info. I think it's pretty obvious that the noose is going to continue to tighten around any potential unreported income sources. And as TH already mentioned, the acceptance of stolen property is also a growing concern for these scrap businesses. Everybody wants their dime and everybody is feeling the need to conform to these rising pressures.
