I hunted at the beach a couple of days ago with my Minelab Sovereign GT.
I was hunting with the dials set to a favorable beach setting:
DISC: 8:00
NOTCH: to minimum
SENS: auto
TRACK/FIX/PINPONT: fix
IRON MASK: on
My problem was that tones were weak and erratic. I'd swing and get an "iffy" tone but in both directions. I'd then decide to dig and the target would go away. Other tones were at times erratic.
The beach seemed very clean compared to the last time I'd been there. It looked as though a cleansing tide had just dropped washing most of the debris out. Very few targets were detected.
Upon starting out, I did not ground balance.
