Two tone ring, right colors, doesn't stick to a magnet and sounds like gold when dropped. It doesn't have any markings inside the ring is a size 5 3/4, 5/16" wide band and weighs 7.5 grams. Acid test on both colors of metal pass the 10k acid and fails the 14k acid.... so is it real gold?

What do you think?

Cliff

If it is foreign gold could be 11K, maybe?
I just had a gold ring today, no marks, nothing, nada, 'cept small jewelers mark on outside of ring.
Tested 18k, Made my day!

good looking ring, is it a spinner?

hard to tell from the pics! what does it read(id numbers) on your goldbug pro? when you say pass and fail are you saying the 14k acid will dissolve the metal but the 10k acid will not dissolve the metal?

Cliff

I would say so. If it passed 10k test on both colors then I'd say you definitely have a gold ring. I just found a yellow gold band the other day that had no markings in it. Tested it with the acid and it came out to be 14k. Nice gold for you!

Hi Chuck, I first thought it was a spinner ring but it isn't.... as for the acid test, yes, 14k dissolves it and it stays with the 10k acid.
As for the Gold Bug Pro reading, it falls in the gold range.... 66 in discriminate. It was a good higher medium tone on the Excalibur.

Mainly because it is in such great condition, it had to be a recent drop and I just expect gold to be marked as such.....
