Using a beach hunter ID for dry land?

Folks, need a little advice. I live on the beach, so I have been using the Whites Beach Hunter ID with great success. I am headed upstate NY to visit a friend who lives on a massive property and I am going to do some detecting up there. Can I use the Beach Hunter to detect on Dry Land. I assume yes, since the technology for detecting is basically the same, but wanted to know the downside to that? I just dont feel like purchasing a land based detector for one outing. If I am going to do more, I would consider it.

Thoughts?

I have done a little land hunting with my Tesoro Tiger Shark. It found gold and silver on land, but it was a rainy day. I think that for one hunt it would probably be fine, but you'll probably have a harder time discriminating. Maybe give it a shot in your local park and see if you can find anything or if it is just too painful.
