I would love to go into it, (a sink hole that seasonally drains flood waters, in Latvia), mining it during the dry season. Who knows what you may find, or where it may lead. .....
I just did a bit of quick research on that area, and from what i can gather ... It probably leads to giant underground caverns of washed away limestone, with large quantities of amber and dolomite remaining.
Given the mineral resources of Latvia, and the flushing effect of those sink holes, i'd venture a guess that Latvia just may be the source of all that amber that is regularly being found along the shores of the Baltic sea.

If i were to do a shoreside or diving search for baltic amber, i would start on the shore near a town called Otradnoye Russia. Prevailing winds, currents, sedementary deposits, and a series of rather unique underwater structures, looks like it would create a natual underwater trap for the amber to settle into. (zoom in on google maps, you will see what i mean).
