Questions on White Ring found at the beach.

Hi guys, need your expert opinions / educated guesses / experience for this find that I found at the beach yesterday.



The above ring, is marked 925 18 on the inside.

I know that 925 is silver but what does 18 mean?
Can it be the ring size? If it is ring size, it is suppose to be a really big ring which it is not.
Or is it gold plated? mixed with gold? If it is gold, don't they usually put K or KT too?

Noting that it was found a low tide, this ring would have been submerged in seawater and silver as I know it will tarnish. As you can see attached in this picture, the ring came out in this condition.

So what are your comments? Thanks.

when you bounce the ring in your hand, do you get a heavy or lite feeling? if the 18 is the size a quarter should be able to pass throw the ring, if not it's not a ring size. if the 18 is by itself it could be a Avon ring. Now if you want to find out if it's Gold and you don't have aGold test kit ,put in a small jar of clorax bleach ,if it turns black it's don't gold( take about 20 mins. ) If it does nothing if could be 18kt.

Thanks guys, measured the ring and turns out the inner diameter is close to 18mm. Thus, the mystery solved, 925 silver sized 18. Now why didn't this ring oxidized and there are hints of gold ..

The ring feels light to the bounce.

New drops will look very silvery...even under water. Not sure how long it takes to start turning purple/gray...but probably more than a few weeks. And in the dry sand could stay silvery a very long time.

EXCEPT when hunting at night under red led light to retain vision.
Then these rings look like gold, which is very exciting till you get home, and check them under normal light (sigh)!
