You Can't Always Get What You Want..But sometimes you DO!

Another nice day to be at the beach. I had hunted one time too many at Dog Beach and Friday this great big exuberant doggy collided with my Dual Field. He didn't even slow down but my poor Dual Field's lower shaft was snapped. I was a bit concerned for the dog but he didn't even seem to notice.

So today I checked my Sand Shark's batteries ... full up at 12+ volts. It's a little slower detecting due to the 8" coil versus 12" on my Dual Field but it was an easy adjustment and I have the time. Finding targets was enjoyable even though my first 4 were AA batteries left in the dry sand. What kind of people do that?

A fellow with a Dual Field had already worked "my" low tide spot. He left pretty quickly and I don't mind left overs. Only a few coins and not any better further on. It was getting to be just before 6 PM so I decided to try the dry sand since most of the crowd was gone.Nothing special but it was nice and comfortable weather.

Near the lifeguard tower I got a nice rattle in my scoop and I quickly pocketed the white gold ring.

After about 60 feet of detecting I had to get a better look at the ring. Oh no...looks like stainless. Yep .. has Stainless Steel 316 inside the ring. At a quick glance it looks good for gold but the color is just off and a little light too.

A tune was running through my head ... "You Can't Always Get What You Want.." Sad but true.

However I went down to bottom of the slope since it looked like the low tide pulled some sand away and I figured .. just maybe. After 5 minutes I got another nice rattle in my scoop. This time it was definitely gold .. the color .. the weight.

A nice man's wedding band with nothing engraved inside except for 14K. It weighed in at 7.34 grams. Sometimes you DO get what you want!

................ What I wanted!

................. Both rings together.

Gotta Love this hobby!

I'd have thought they were both gold from the picture. Good job sticking it out for the gold....
