Had a little bump in life. But it's smoothed out now. Thanks.

Nice find DFD and welcome back!
The first thing I would do is test it with a magnet.
If it sticks, it is doubtful that it is gold.

Your Fe Co numbers are in the gold range.
But the problem, is that Gold can be all over the place as it is an alloy (mixture of metals) for hardness and color.
Also, the shape of your find can throw the Fe Co number off, which are better suited to identify cookie cutter type objects such as coins.

Magnet didn't come close to sticking. I tried that right off the bat. No discoloration when found, and none now. You would think that after 20 plus years of detecting I would by a test kit. I found an unmarked ring before and it turned out to be 10k. This might be also. I will take it in with my unclaimed gold rings and see what they say. Thanks!
