Dr. Joe,
That's a 'keeper' and in great condition !!
2.0833 g; 0.90 gold; 0.06 oz AGW 15.5 mm.
Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla; Mex. City mint
Estimated mintage: 180,000.
That coin type, in that denomination, appeared in only 1918-1920 and again in 1944-1948.
1947 is the key date in that series (24k minted); keep searching !!
I'll share your disappointment if it isn't real.
Don........

That is awesome!!! How many times have you looked at it? What's your opinion of the ATX. I'm thinking about selling off 2 of my machines and replacing them with the ATX.

Wet sand...a spot I've covered a couple dozen times.

The ATX is DEEP!!! but also very HEAVY!! I find it's response to a target is more sluggish than my Dual Field and that's been a difficult adjustment for me. The ATX has a good helper/shoulder strap that's easy to use and I definitely need to use it.

On the basis of price it's twice the Dual Field.

My opinion is that the ATX is very good for areas that have minimal targets and picking up the deep deep surprise gold ring. I'm expecting to use it in gold fields also where I expect it to shine.

In 3 months I've found 4 gold rings, a child's gold bracelet ...and my very own Gold Coin! Probably a bit less productive than I was with my dual field...but that Gold Coin counts for a lot!

OUTSTANDING! What a way to feed the Armadillo.
32 years and still looking, now with an ATX. Finding more smaller, deeper woman's type wedding bands than I have using an Excalibur, Whites PI or the Infinium. I agree with the ATX's weight and will be trying it hooked up to a Minelab ProSwing 45 for wet/dry sand hunts. No sling is needed in the water.

I assume it was SALTWATER?
any problems ground balancing in the wet sand or sounding off erratically?

am thinking of getting one too but not enough reviews yet!!

I mainly do wet sand and splashed by surf but don't really get into the water..Yeah, Pacific ocean.

The ATX's weight is a huge downside for us more..ahem..mature detectorists. My right shoulder has given me pain for the entire three months. It lets up if I go out with my XP Deus which is ridiculously light.

As far as sensitivity.. the ATX is FANTASTIC. Close to double the depth of my White's Dual Field in some cases. To the point where you have to ask yourself...do you really want to go that deep? My answer was YES.. I'd like that choice...and..luckily money was no object.
