Some old silver at low tide "Muddy Flats" today.

Been viewing some great finds here ..congrats to all on the terrific detecting.

Haven't been lucky in the "gold" department lately, but did manage to snag some silver today and a few days ago,

Had started baking chocolate cookies this morning, , but decided to take a break late morning at low tide ( was not a difficult decision )

Hunted thick muddy flats, and all items were deep ....approximately 8"...lots of digging to get to the targets.....I'm using a smaller diameter scoop these days, so it takes longer to recover the goodies.

Here's some pics of my finds.

Both rings had to have been dormant for many years by the looks of them...probably from 1943 like the war nickel.

One of the rings had a thick rock-like black appendage that had to be broken off.

Will be out there tomorrow to keep searching for those treasures.

What scoop are you using now Lorraine ?

I'm using mostly the one on the left for dry sand, wet sand, and mushy muddy flats ; sometimes I use the larger heavier one on the right for the heavier cement-like muddy flats.

The one on the right is quite heavy, and I don't want to injure my back from excess strain with it.

You don't want to push it with the heavy scoop and be out of commission . I'm certain a LOT of gold and silver has found its way into both of those scoops and can tell a lot of stories if they could talk.

Right now, both my machines are out of commission.....faulty wires near the cable -unit junction; too much use ( I hunt almost every day)

My brother is repairing one of the cables for me, and then the second cable will be off to Florida for him to repair, also.

In the meantime , it's housework, yard work and cooking.....(what did I do to deserve this turn of events )

Going to Ocean Beach this Friday for a Polka celebration ( I'm borrowing a machine from my friend so that I can detect with him and his wife..maybe dance later in the day .

Probably go back on Monday to see what's left on the beach after this 3 day Polka marathon; maybe see you there?
